As a graphic designer, I’m not just restricted to business cards, flyers, logos and advertisements.
In June 2013, I was commissioned by the Buloke Shire Council to design a town sign to be erected at my hometown of Nandaly. The brief was to showcase the town and highlight the main sources of income from the area – grain and sheep.
I initially designed three concepts, which were displayed where most of the locals frequent – the local pub – and a vote was taken from there.
Fast forward to January 2014, and the sign was finally printed and erected, just in time for the Australia Day breakfast, which the whole town attends.
I posted the end result on my Facebook page and it was by far the most popular post to date, reaching over 1500 people organically.
